It just occurred to me that I never made a post re: The Painted Lady. Well, the reason for that is because I was pretty underwhelmed by it. It's not that it was terrible television or anything, but for an Avatar episode it was pretty bad. Like, Imprisoned or Great Divide-level bad. OK, that might be a bit bit harsh, but Imprisoned-level bad to be sure, and for much the same reasons. The pacing was all off, Katara was annoying (this should never happen, as Katara is awesome),and I wanted to just toss Doc/Shu into a lava pit and watch him burn.
On a related note, it's not even been a week and already I've seen three Zutara fanworks based on the premise that Zuko and Katara both dress up as spirits whoo, and I'm not even looking. Yeah, fandom, could you not do that? You're just embarrassing yourself. Or, if you really must, could we at least maintain the balance by generating an equal number of Katara/Aang fanworks based on a similar idea? Thanks.
Sokka's Master is tonight. I have been waiting for this episode approximately since half-way through Season One, when I decided that Sokka was the best character ever. The previews already have me squealing uncontrollably. This is going to be so awesome.
Argh fuck I'm ill. Not much at all yet, but if my cubicle neighbour's experience, whom I caught it from, is any indicator, it's going to get bad and it's going to take an eternity to go away. Fuck.
Camelot said in an interview that they would be interested in making a third Golden Sun game. I came buckets.
Next week my work moves to the new location. Which is overall awesome, as the new location is pretty much right next to my house, as opposed to on the opposite end of the city. Unfortunately, I won't be able to bring in my laptop to work anymore, which is unfortunate, but I can deal with that in exchange for cutting my gas costs and commute time by five sixths.
Holy crap! Thanks for the protip, I totally would have missed Avatar tonight if you hadn't reminded me. In other words, as much as The Painted Lady was eh, Katara looked awesome in that outfit.
That and somebody needs to tell the Zutara fans that half their OTP is busy making out with Mai at every possible moment.
(The Katara half, fo sho)
A third Golden Sun game would be almost as much love as Jenna in Brawl, Y/N? She'd be a girly Roy. Win and more win.
Mai/Katara? This mis a new one on me. I've seen Azula/Katara(hell, I've written Azula/Katara, it is the superior Zutara), I've seen Ty Lee/Katara, but never any Mai/Katara that I can remember.
Wait...a third Golden Sun game?! Holy god that is my favorite GBA game EVAR! Seriously I've replayed one and two so many times it's pathetic. Oh man if they let you carry over items into 3 I'm going to join you in needing a bucket or two.
I KNOW, RIGHT? Golden Sun was awesome as all let out, and the thought of a third game makes me tingle inappropriately.
Nothing concrete at this time, but the interview did say that they were interested in making a third game, Nintendo wanted them to make it, and the only reason they hadn't made it yet is because the series has so many fans that they don't want to do anything half-assed.
I used to play test and review Nintendo games for our website and I swear to you I've played every RPG out there, none even came close to that series. I used to go out to lunch every day and scarf down food while obsessively playing. It was the only series that hooked me good and hard right from the get go. Fantastic controls, amazing game play and solid characters, there simply wasn't anything to dislike about the games. It's one of the few game series out there that, like my favorite books, makes me want to pick it up again and again.
Have you ever played Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean? Despite the unwieldy title, it is an RPG of the highest calibre that pretty much that very effect on me. And you might very well have missed out, as it was a Gamecube RPG, and as such a total of eight people bought a copy.
WHATEVER, Golden Sun is love and we can all agree on that. The only thing I would change is some balance stuff: attack Psynergy sort of became irrelevant near the end of The Lost Age. You could get much better damage for free by simply attacking and hoping for Megiddo or Legend. =/
Outside of that one gripe, though, the games are pretty much flawless. Makes me wonder why I've only fanficced it once.
Here you go. Be warned, the first few chapters were written something like a year before the last bunch, so there's a-at least to my eyes-very real and obvious gap in terms of writing ability that is actually sort of embarrassing and I should probably fix one of these days.
Ok this is really freaky 'cause as I'm reading it all I can see are the little pixelated characters with text boxes scrolling out that I should have to tap the button to move through. I have never experienced it before in my life and it's amusing the hell out of me :)
I've found that I need to reacquaint myself with the characters as I have vague recollections of who they are but it's been entirely too long. Oh dear, looks like I'll have to play the games again :)
