I watched both eps back to back last night in preparation for Sozin's Comet (ETA 4 hours...) and damn near worshipped the writers for what they'd given us. God I love Smart!Zuko, almost as much as I love Repentant!Zuko, and I have to say that now I believe he's going to be a kickass leader of the Fire Nation. Actually if I had one complaint about the episodes it would be that I'd kind of hoped Iroh might show up, but I always hope he might show up. If he doesn't tonight I will turn into a teenaged girl, listen to nothing but emo music for a week and possibly wear a lot of black.
Anyway, EIP did indeed kick ass and Toph being as delighted as if she'd just found out they'd made an action figure of her. Toph just wins at life, she really, really does. God I wish more tv writers would actually give us these kinds of strong, realistic female characters.
Loved that the play ended precisely the way a Fire Nation production should, with Zuko falling to Azula and Aang falling to Ozai. Yes, that was just...yes. Also the production values of the Ember Island Players was first rate. I was actually wondering if it might not be able to do some of those effects in actual cosplay. Yes, I am that sad but oh how I long to create an Air Bender costume...
