You selected: Hellsing - OST 2 - 04 - tsumitsukuri na nikui yatsu This one's a tricky one, but I'm going to go with pre-timeskip Lordgenome, from Gurren Lagann. The song's feel is laced with a sense of smug superiority that resembles him very much. Especially towards the beginning, you can easily imagine him on his throne, grinning, half-concealed in shadows as he plays with one of his girls' chins as his minions rain down destruction.

You selected: Motoi Sakuraba - Divine White Bell. It reminds me of Maestro Delphine, from Last Exile. Graceful and beautiful, but at the same time tinted with a dark undertone and surrounded by tragedy-most of it of her own doing.

It's about someone who is searching for something (which works both in the literal sense and the metaphorical sense) that they'll never really be able to find. And the second person, the one who the song is written from the perspective of, is someone who cares very deeply about them, and even though he can't provide what the first person is looking for, and will stick with them and hold them tightly and help them, even through the first person's fits of anger etc. it falls apart a bit towards the end but I think it fits quite well.

You selected: Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood (Phi Life Cypher Remix). This song reminds me of Stone Ocean, part six of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. It's a bit hard to explain if you haven't read it, and doesn't cover everything, but a lot of the lyrics are very reminiscent of the Stand abilities from this part. For example:

I spit words from my mouth that be turnin' you inside out.

Father Pucci's second Stand, C-Moon, can punch things and cause them to turn inside out by manipulating their gravity.

Now rearrangin' your whole skeletal structure.

Annasui's Stand, Diver Down, does exactly this on several occasions, at one point transforming a nasty old man's leg bones and muscles into a weird suspension structure that caused him to bounce like he was on springs, and on anothe roccasion transforming a dead man's whole body to look exactly like him, as a decoy.

Ungaro's Stand, Bohemian Rhapsody, traps people in the roles of fictional characters they identify with, and then force them to travel inevitably to the conclusion of the story (usually a gruesome death).

C-Moon also alters the field of gravity in a 3 kilometer radius around Pucci. In that area, he moves like normal, but for everything else gravity pulls in a different direction: away from him. If you're above him you fall upwards, if you're on the same horizontal plane as him you now fall along the ground, away from him.

In addition to all this, it feels a lot like Pucci's attitude.

Jojo's bizarre adventures. I think I've heard of that before. Huh.

It is a ridiculously long manga. Over 750 chapters, and still going. I would never have gotten through it if it hadn't compensated through sheer awesomeness.

Just thinking of that kinda makes me shudder.

Oh yeah, it's crazy-long. At least it's not all about the same people: it's broken down into (thus far) seven parts, each one focusing on a different member of the Joestar bloodline, all of whose names can be shortened down to 'Jojo'. (Jonathan Joestar was first, set in the 1800s, followed by his grandson Joseph Joestar, followed by his grandson, Jotaro Kujo, followed by Jotaro's younger-than-him uncle, Josuke Higashikata, followed by villain Dio's son, conceived when Dio was possessing Jonathan Joestar's body, and then in Stone Ocean it's Jolyne Kujo, Jotaro's daughter)

So it's really several different stories, but all connected and all extremely inventive. In Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, tHe answer to the question 'What Kind Of Lame Power Is Heart, Anyway is, invariably, 'the kind that can kill you'.

That sounds fun.

You selected: Futurama - Robot Hell. Ignoring the obvious, I'm going to go with Starscream from Transformers Animated, just because he's hapless enough that imagining him going through all that suffering is entirely plausible.

You selected: Barenaked Ladies - Off The Hook. And this reminds me of just about any given episode of Law and Order, although Law and Order SVU is a particularly bad offender. For every guilty party there always seems to be a husband/wife/significant other willing to help[ cover up their misdeeds out of denial, until the end of the episode when they typically realize how badly they've been used.
