SO. GOOD. I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW GOOD. THERE WAS TOPH METALBENDING THE FUCK OUT OF THE RAMP, AND SOKKA HAVING THE UNIVERSE SHIT ON HIM AND HAVING A PLAN, AND KATARA BEING ALL CONCERNED AND AANG BEING SORT OF WHINY OK THAT LAST ONE WASN'T SO AWESOME BUT EVERYTHING ELSE WAS.

AND ROKU AND YUE SHOWING UP AND EEEEEEEE

Ok. OK. Let me try to inflict some order here. Alright. So. Listing of the top three and bottom three from this episode.

TOP THREE:

1. HOLY SHIT, AZULA. You are awesome! An enormous bitch. But awesome!

2. The whole chase sequence with the boats. That was just enormous win in so many ways.

3. Roku and Yue turning up to de-angst Aang.


BOTTOM THREE:

1. Holy god, was Aang a whiny little shit. I can understand why, of course, but it was still really, really annoying.

2. The old ladies narrating. Again, I can see why, but man did that scene drag on.

3. Katara kind of switched mental gears REALLY fast when crying into her dad's armor. Like, absurdly fast.

TOPH IS THE FUCKING CHUCK NORRIS OF AVATAR LAND, YOU CANNOT DENY. AANG WAS LOW ON AWESOME BUT I BELIEVE HE WILL BE AWESOMER IN THE FUTURE SO IT'S ALL GOOD AND ALLCAPS.

3. It happens. That whole scene felt really personal to me because of what my father did this summer - leaving my mom and then turning up again and expecting everything to be all happy and normal - and I could have tape recorded all the dialogue from one of our fights. I'd find myself switching from biting, righteous protago-bitch to sobbing helpless victim of heartbreak in a split second when we fought.

Kind of weird.

I mean I'm sure it happens, it just felt sort of forced is all. Like they couldn't think of a natural way to transition to such a conversation and so just dropped it onto the end there.

Dude, you clearly have never been a 14 year old girl ;) But I totally agree with you, this season they've decided to go beyond epic to EPIC. I mean seriously the show's gone from good animated series to Oscar material. I just need some resolution on the Mai/Zuko thing (though, surprisingly I find myself liking the pairing) and I desperately need to know what sets him off on Mommy Quest. Again, if mom is the head of the White Lotus my heart may explode from sheer joy.

I know full well how insanely temperamental and unpredictable teenage girls can be (my sister was one), it just seemed unnaturally quick. If they'd put in a pause, even just for a moment, it would have flowed better, I think.

I loved this episode. I had miss the wittiness of Sokka and Toph. Zuko's still a punk. And Ozai! He didn't look at all like what I thought he would. He's so young! I was expecting at least an evil moustache or something! XD
