"Excuse me, miss," he said. "D'you know what time it is?"
Ema checked her watch. "It's quarter past fiv--"
At this point she realized who she was talking to, and screamed, scooting back away from him. Dead bodies were one thing, but dead bodies that got up and started asking questions? That was another thing entirely.
"Oh please, stop that noise," the victim said, wincing. "I've got enough of a headache without it."
"You're...you're dead!" was all Ema could think to say.
"For about six hours, from the sound of it," the victim said. "Blast, that thing could be anywhere now."
"You were shot through the heart!" Ema said, still trying to come to grips with this unexpected turn of events. The victim looked down at his bloodstained shirt and grunted.
"So I was," he said. "Fortunately, I've got a spare." He lightly tapped his chest on the side opposite the bullet wound. "Ruined my coat, though." He seemed somewhat more put out by this than the gaping wound in his chest.
Ema just gaped at him. She'd never heard of anything like this, and she'd read every textbook on crime scene investigation she could get her hands on.
"Right," the man said. "I'll be off, then."
He took a step forward, and immediately collapsed. Ema managed to get upright in time to catch him, laying him down gently.
"What are you thinking?" she asked, exasperated. "Your chest is still full of lead!"
The man considered this. "Ah, good point," he admitted. "I think I might be in need of medical attention."
And then he passed out.

Phoenix Wright nodded. "The defense is ready, your honor." Across the courtroom, Miles Edgeworth crossed his arms.
"The prosecution is, as always, ready. Although I really don't see much of a point to this trial. It's the definition of open-and shut case."
"Objection!" Phoenix shouted, finger extended. "All citizens have a right to a fair trial, no matter the circumstances!"
The judge shook his head, annoyed. "Thank you, Mister Wright, but we are all aware of that. Please try to rein in your rhetoric until it will actually matter."
Phoenix shifted uncomfortably, scratching the back of his head. Maybe he had turned it on a little strong, there...
"Your opening remarks, Mister Edgeworth?" the judge continued.
Edgeworth cleared his throat. "The defending originally stood accused of high seas piracy, but although he has confessed, the prosecutor's office has been unable to find record of him actually committing acts of piracy, and so those charges have been dropped. However, three days ago a man was found dead. Investigation revealed that the defendant had had a violent altercation with him, just earlier that week! Furthermore, we have determined that the defendant had both the means, and opportunity to commit the murder. In this light, we accuse the defendant of the murder of Bellamy the Hyena."
Luffy has to be innocent, Phoenix thought. He had left the island right after his confrontation with Bellamy! Whatever evidence Edgeworth has must be faked, but I don't know how to prove that...
His musings were interrupted by a tap on the shoulder. He looked up and saw that Luffy had stretched his arm all the way from the defendant's chair to catch his attention. "Hey, Spike-hair," he said.
"Yes?" Pheonix said, standing up straight.
"What's with pasty-face, here?" Luffy asked, indicating Edgeworth with his thumb. "He looks like he's never eaten a good meal in his life!"
Edgeworth paled further and slammed his desk. "Wha-what are you talking about?" Edgeworth demanded. "Don't you have any idea of the sort of situation you're in?"
"Nope!" Luffy said happily, and then started laughing.

[wanders off cackling]
MORE OF AN AMALGAM, BUT WHATEVER
"Wa ha ha ha ha!" He laughed as he dragged her along the ground. "I can't believe how easy that was! You're going to make me the greatest hero the world has ever known! All I need to do is take the information from your useless body, and I'll be promoted for certain."
Robin sobbed quietly, and dug her heels into the ground, trying to stop the forward motion. She wrenched her arm out of Spandam's grasp, and began running the other way. I just need to hold on a little longer, she thought. Everyone's coming to rescue me!
"Where do you think you're going? Spandam shouted, pushing her from behind. She tumbled to the floor, crying out as her face hit the solid ground. She tried to get back up, but Spandam was on top of her now, kicking her viciously in the ribs.
"Where are you going to go? The only things back there are your friends' dead bodies!" he shouted as he stomped on her back. "There nobody coming to save you, you stupid bitch! You belong to us now!"
"They said they would come!" Robin shouted desperately. "Do you even understand what you're doing here? Why you're fighting? Why you're killing people?"
Spandam stopped kicking her, and grabbed her by the front of her dress, holding her teary face at eye level. "I don't care about a reason," he said. "All I want is my promotion. What happens after that is none of my business."
"And them?" Robin asked. "Your lap dogs? Do they know the reason?"
Spandam burst out laughing again. "Are you kidding, little girl?" he said, throwing his head back. "They know even less than I do, they don't care. They jsut follow orders like good little agents."
Robin glared at him, her eyes filled with determination. "Then you will never be able to beat them" she said, her voice laced with conviction. "They will come for me. Everybody's coming to save me."
Spandam reached back a hand to slap her, but before he could he heard a sound. A quite, pulsating noise. He lost interest in Robin for the moment, looking around to try and identify the source.
The sound was followed by a rumbling, the very ground beneath him vibrating and shaking. Spandam's glaces became mroe frantic, trying desperately to figure out what was causing the problem.
Could one of them gotten through? He wondered, and then dismissed it. This CP9 was the strongest ever. There was no way that it could lose to some rabble like this--
The ground broke beneath his feet as a the tip of a massive drill thrust through from below. Spandam panicked, tumbling backwards to get out of its way. Robin fell ont he other side of it, the intruder cutting Spandam off.
The drill was followed by a giant mecha, bursting through the hole that the drill had left behind. The drill retracted into its hand, and it knelt in the passageway, which was barely large enough to contain its bulk.
It extended on hand down to where Nico Robin was standing, and a smaller drill trust out, piercing the handcuffs that bound her and her powers.
Now free, she stumbled forward. A hatch on the forehead of the robot, hidden below the large tuft of blue 'hair', slid backwards with a hiss, and a gold-and-red cloak burst through the gap, ruffling in the wind.
And arm stretched out from the cockpit, grabbing her gently by the waist, and then retracted, pulling Robin upwards, to where he was waiting.
"Luffy..." she said quietly as the Pirate King held her in his arms.
"I came to save you, Robin," he said. "Just like I promised."
Tears streaming freely down her face, Robin nodded.
Luffy reached down into the cockpit's exterior, and pushed a lever. Five drills shot out of the robot's body, impacting the ground in front of them. The top of each opened, and in each stood one of Robin's friends: Zoro. Sanji. Nami. Chopper. The mysterious Sogeking.

"Don't underestimate us!" Luffy shouted. "Power, strength, even the entire world's might, they don't mean anything! If our friends are in trouble, we'll surpass the impossible, and kick reason to the curb! That is who we are: the Straw Hat Pirate Crew!"
He dropped down into the cockpit, taking Robin with him. The giant mecha's eyes flared to life, and it stood upwards suddenly, breaking the ceiling and sending rubble tumbling down upon the hapless Spandam.
The robot drew back one hand, forming it into a massive drill, and it thrust forward towards Spandam's panicking form. The CP9's director screamed in terror as the bit spun through the air, on a trajectory that ended right between his eyes.
The drill sheared harmlessly to the side as a shield of light appeared in front of Spandam's face. Sparks flew as it tried to pierce the shield, but it wound up running itself into the ground.
Spandam turned around and saw Rob Lucci's sleek black mecha, in Leopard-man mode, with one hand extended to project the shield.
"Oi, Lucci!" Spandam shouted, kicking the robot in the toe angrily. "What took you so long! Protecting me is supposed to be your top priority!"
"I apologize, Director," Lucci said smoothly. "I was unavoidably detained."
Spandam turned back to the Straw Hats, confidence returning to his face. "Wa ha ha ha! Now the tables have turned!" he shouted triumphantly. "There's no way you can hope to beat Rob Lucci! His strength is way above normal, even for a rokushiki user!"
"Do you really think that matters!?"
Spandam looked down, to where Chopper was standing with his arms crossed. The reindeer-man was glaring at him, with fire blazing in his eyes.
"It doesn't matter how strong he is. He'll never be able to beat Luffy."
"Oh?" Lucci asked. "And why is that?"
"Because," Chopper said, "he's going to be the Pirate King!"
"What ridiculous nonsense," Lucci said. "As if that had anything to do with it!"
Luffy grinned at him from inside his mecha's cockpit. "Wanna try and find out?" he asked.
Lucci's mech shot forward, lunging for Luffy's, but a burst of green light flared between them, sending Lucci flying backwards into a wall.
The five drills closed up again, sealing the crewmembers inside, and then they took off from the ground. Luffy's mech grew, and grew again, and then the drills containing the five crewmembers slammed home, and the whole scene was lost in a brilliant storm of Spiral Energy; A storm which grew, and grew, and grew again, until its size eclipsed the very galaxies. And then a cry went up from its center, so loud that it split the heavens:
"SUUUUUUUUUPERRRRRRRR!"
A hand formed. Then an arm, and a leg, and then the rest of the body. The head came last, bursting roughly out of the top of the torso.
"Even if the whole world should turn against us," Robin began, gripping the controls.
"Our faith in our friends will protect us!" Nami finished from a separate cockpit.
"And when the odds are their longest, and the end seems near," Sanji said, flicking away his cigarette.
"We'll follow our dreams, and they'll see us through to the end!" Zoro said.
Finally, the transformation was complete. As the green light faded, giving a clear view, all of them shouted together:
"Tengen Toppa Battle Franky! Who the hell do you think we are?"

"Yep," the Doctor said, leaning against the TARDIS. "Wherever you want to go, it can take you there."
Robin considered. "Even...even the Void Century?"
"Of course."
Robin turned around to look at the other Straw Hat pirates, who were assembled behind her. "And my friends?" she asked.
"Offer's not open for them," the Doctor said. "Just you. Take it or leave it."
Robin looked at the Doctor, and then back at the crew again. She couldn't decide. If she went with him, she could find the truth of the Void Century, but on the other hand, if she left...
"Oi, Robin!" Luffy said. "What are you waiting for?"
Robin looked at him, uncertain of his meaning. His face split into a wide grin.
"To learn about the Void Century...that's your dream, isn't it? If you can find about it by going with the Jacket-Ossan, you shouldn't be hesitating! He's a good person. I can tell," Luffy confided.
"Yeah! Go ahead, Robin!" Usopp shouted. "We'll be okay without you, so don't worry about us! Just head out and fulfill your dream!"
The other straw hats spoke up now, encouraging her to go with the Doctor. Tear wells up in her eyes, and she wiped them with the back of her hand.
"I'll come back!" she promised. "No matter what, once I've found the answers I'm looking for...I'll come back to you!"
The Doctor pushed the TARDIS' door open, revealing the futuristic interior. "Time to go," he said. Robin stepped into the blue box, and he followed, closing the door behind them.
A few minutes later the light atop the police box began flashing, a pulsating noise rose from it, and it began fading away.
"That is so cool!" Luffy shouted as it vanished.

"What're you looking at?" she asked, and Aang pointed.
"There's a ship," he said, and when she squinted, Katara could see it too. It was a small little thing, and almost lost in the sunset glimmer on the surface of the water.
Sokka walked up between them, and started peering down himself. "Let me have a look..."
He squinted at the small boat, trying to make out its design and colors. It was small, but the model was one that he'd never seen before. And when he got to the flag flying on top of the mast...
"They're pirates," he said, standing straight. "We should just keep on flying. I've had quite enough of pirates to last me for one lifetime, thank you."
Aang nodded in assent, and then pulled back on the reins. Appa bellowed as he rose higher into the sky.
A pair of hands stretched up from below and grabbed Appa's horns. It was such a bizarre sight that it took a moment for them to realize exactly what they were looking at.
"What?" Sokka said, and looked down over Appa's forehead. What he saw confused him even more. Two arms, stretched out impossibly far, and at the center a red vest and a straw hat, rising up impossibly fast--
Sokka squawked as a young man in a straw hat slammed into him, sending him flying backwards. He almost went sailing off the other end, but Appa raised his tail to catch him.
"Thanks, Appa," he said, holding his bloodied nose. He thought it might be broken. "What the hell was that?"
Aang and Katara had both adopted fighting stances the moment Sokka had been hit, but they now hesitated, uncertain of what to make of the new comer. All he seemed to be doing was clinging Appa's forehead, rubbing his face in the dark fur that made up the arrow.
"Oh man," the stranger said, "a flying cow! That's so awesome!"
Sokka's eyebrow shot up. So did Katara's. Aang, however, got indignant.
"Hey, he's the Sky Bison, not a cow!" he shouted.
"Whatever," the stranger said. "He's still so cool!"

DELAYED RESPONSE IS DELAYED
They crossed a rocky rise and a tall, white-bearded man came in sight. When he saw them, he turned on them, incredulous.
"What are you still doing here?" he shouted. "Get to the boats!"
He pointed down towards the shoreline, and the Doctor nodded. "On my way," he said as he started off in that direction, pulling Donna behind him.
They were only out of earshot for a moment when Donna spoke up. "That was Avatar Roku, wasn't it?"
"Yep," the Doctor said, dreading what he knew was coming.
"He's going to die."
"Yep," the Doctor confirmed. "He's going to die, and Fire Lord Sozin will live, and the world will be plunged into the longest and bloodiest war it's ever seen. And no, there isn't anything I can do to save him. He's solid time. If I could save him, I would, but I--"
"Don't be an idiot," Donna said, cutting him off. "I already figured that out. Now come on, we need to get back to the TARDIS."
"We're headed for the boats," the Doctor said. "No way to get to the TARDIS now, we're cut off. Don't worry, though, she'll survive anything. The tricky part's going to be getting to her once this is all done, but I'm sure I'll think of something."
